Oreo Krispies take the classic rice krispie treat recipe and kick it up with the addition of crushed Oreo cookies plus extra marshmallows.
This is a treat that my kids beg for and it takes only about ten minutes of effort. These Oreo Krispies don’t really seem homemade because of the help they get from the cereal and cookie aisles. But trust me, they taste infinitely better than the pre-made krispie treats you can buy in the store.

In my opinion the basic rice krispie treat recipe needs a little extra oomph to really make them shine. I started with this recipe here and altered it a bit, including adding the crushed Oreo cookies. They are perfect. Extra thick with lots of marshmallow flavor. Some of the recipes I found when researching Oreo Krispies included melted white chocolate – which is fine if you are a fan of white chocolate. But I prefer the more classic flavor of the melted butter and marshmallows.
These Oreo Krispies are getting rave reviews on Pinterest. I’m floored by how many people are making them and snapping photos of their efforts. I had a recent question from a reader that I think others may wonder too:
Can you cut Oreo Krispies into shapes?
Yes! In this recipe I call for the treats to be spread in a 9-inch square pan because I wanted these Oreo Krispies to be extra indulgent. But if you spread them into a 9×13 dish they will be thinner and easier to cut using a cookie cutter. I would be sure to spray the dish with cooking spray or grease with a little extra butter to make sure the shapes are easy to remove from the dish.

Hello! I want to make these for a lunch on Sunday, but I would have to make them Thursday night. If I cut them up and put them in a tightly sealed bag, will they still be good or will they be stale? We will be camping that weekend so I will not have time to make anything after Thursday. Thanks!
foodtasticmom says
So sorry for the late reply. Did you make them? I think tightly sealed they should be fine for that long. Let me know if you tried it!

how many bags (or ounces) is 9 cups of mini marshmallows?
foodtasticmom says
It was more than one bag. I purchased two standard sized bags – maybe 1 1/2? Hope that helps!

Hello! Just wondering if these can be cut into shapes or are they too goey for that? Thanks!
foodtasticmom says
No they are not too gooey. I’d maybe spread them thinner for cutting though – make the same size recipe but use a larger pan. Hope this helps!

These are incredible, and I currently have both some Rice Krispies and a package of Oreos in the pantry needing to be used up – coincidence!? Definitely not! 🙂 My son will think he’s died and gone to heaven. If I let him have one, that is! 😉

Nope, not a coincidence. A happy fact! Hope you love them.

Lindsey says
Why the salt? Just curious.
foodtasticmom says
I always add salt to sweet treats. Maybe it’s a mental thing but I feel like it balances the flavors better.
Amanda says
You don’t list when to add the oreo mixture.
foodtasticmom says
It’s there in Step 1 –
In a large bowl, mix together the Krispie cereal, crushed Oreo cookies and one cup of mini marshmallows
Courtney H. says
I only have large marshmallows. How would they measure versus the mini?
foodtasticmom says
I found this conversion chart…
https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/dessert/candy/kraft-marshmallow-conversion-chart.html
The recipe calls for a total of 9 cups of mini marshmallows. According to this chart, 8 regular (or large) marshmallows equals one cup so you’d need 72 of the large marshmallows. Hope that helps!
