Chicken pot pie always sounds like a good idea for a comforting meal. But they always seem fussy to me because of the pie crust. So I decided to develop a recipe for individual Air Fryer Pot Pie. Ramekin dishes work well in the basket of an air fryer. I found that out when I made these Air Fryer Lava Cakes. I made a quick and creamy chicken filling on the stovetop. To be topped with biscuit dough. The air fryer cooks canned biscuits to be a nice flaky crust. A perfect golden brown but still tender on the inside. I maintain that the air fryer works magic. Don’t question it. Just enjoy the delicious results.

Ingredients for air fryer chicken pot pie recipe
- Butter – Melted butter cooked with the flour helps to make a roux which thickens the chicken casserole base for the pot pies
- Flour – I have only tested this recipe with all-purpose flour, not gluten-free flour
- Chicken Broth – Use your favorite brand of broth or chicken stock
- Rotisserie Chicken – This is a great recipe for if you have leftover chicken. You can use rotisserie chicken or I like to meal prep cooked chicken by cooking frozen chicken in the Crock Pot
- Frozen Mixed Vegetables – You need one 10-oz bag. You could also use a bag of frozen peas and carrots if you prefer
- Italian Seasoning – Use whatever seasoning blend is your favorite. I’ve used herbs de Provence in this recipe too.
- Onion Flakes – I like the convenience of onion flakes. You could also use a 1/4 cup of fresh chopped onions or even frozen onions.
- Garlic Powder – Substitute with one clove of fresh garlic if you prefer
- Salt and Pepper
- Cream Cheese – Helps to give the pot pie a nice and creamy texture
- Grands Southern Homestyle Biscuits – This the brand of biscuits I tested this recipe with. Feel free to use your favorite brand of canned biscuits – flaky or with layers
Instructions
Make the filling on the stovetop first. Melt butter, whisk in flour, then the broth to make a quick gravy. Stir in the seasonings, shredded rotisserie chicken and frozen vegetables. Allow to simmer for a few minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese until blended.
Fill each ramekin with the delicious chicken stew. Top each dish with a biscuit. Pop the pies into your air fryer basket. Air fry the pot pies at 325 degrees F for 12 minutes (or until the biscuits are browned and cooked through).

How to air fry a frozen chicken pot pie
My recipe is for a semi-homemade pot pie that is cooked in the air fryer. However, you may wish to cook a pre-made chicken pot pie from frozen, such as ones by Marie Callender or Banquet Pot Pies. The air fryer is perfect for cooking one frozen pot pie. It cooks in a fraction of the time compared to the oven. Plus the air fryer makes a nice and crispy crust.
- Don’t thaw the pot pie, cook it from frozen
- Some air fryers can fit two 10 oz pot pies, mine can only fit one
- Cooking time is 375 degrees F for 18 – 22 minutes – as always remember that times vary based on the brand of air fryer
- Check the internal temperature of the pot pie. It should be 165 degrees F to be safe to eat
- These instructions will work for individual frozen dessert pies too
